Introduction
This tutorial walks through how to locate and visualize poor quality cells using a complex mesh of the Tie Interceptor. This is a model with complex geometry that has been minimally de-featured.
What You'll Need
Step 1: Check Grid
Navigate to the Grid Menu and select Check Grid. The log messages area will print a summary of mesh quality metrics.
Step 2: Generate an iso-surface for individual cell data.
Navigate to the Database Menu and select Manage Post. Press the “new cell iso select” button. Choose Mesh as the scalar field group and the mesh quality metric you want to evaluate. Uncheck the Skin Only box. Once the surface is available, press generate.
Step 3: Explore the Flagged Cells
Turn off all edges and surfaces except the new cell iso surface. Zoom in to see the individual cells. Right click to highlight surfaces and display the coordinate location of each cell.
The mesh metrics available as scalar field selections are defined in the Azore User Guide, which is included with your Azore download.
- Interior Face Non-Orthogonal
- Exterior Face Non-Orthogonal
- Neighbor Volume Ratio
- Least Squares Condition Number
- Weak Connection
- Cell Aspect Ratio
